Unleashing Creativity: Highlights from February's Workshop

In February 2024, Spotlight Theatre Company embarked on a whirlwind of creativity at our monthly workshop. Laughter filled the room as we delved into the world of improvisation, igniting our imaginations and unleashing our spontaneity.

Improv Extravaganza: Dave Boggess kicked off the session leading some energising warm-up games, including the classic "Whoosh," setting the tone for an morning of uninhibited creativity. Scenes filled with gibberish had us in stitches, showcasing our ability to think on our feet and embrace the absurd.

Mad Alphabet Story: The highlight of the improv session was the creation of a mad alphabet story, where each participant contributed a sentence on the fly. It wasn't as easy as it may look on TV, but with some collective storytelling prowess we finished with section with smiles on our faces.

Body Language Exploration: After a quick cup of tea to recharge, we delved into body work led by our director, Christine Angell. Christine provided masks and secret scenarios, challenging us to communicate solely through body language. It was a fascinating exercise that not only honed our physical expression but also fostered a deeper understanding of non-verbal communication.

Fun and Camaraderie: As the workshop drew to a close, it was clear that February's session had been a resounding success. From the infectious laughter to the moments of creative brilliance, each participant left feeling energized and inspired.
